ADGP 2014 – Round 4 – Day 2
Welcome to ZeroClearance!
I’m sure a most of you know, ADGP came to host their final round of the 2014 season in Melbourne’s own Calder Park Raceway. This is the second installment of our ongoing coverage of the weekend, with the practice sessions of the weekend happening on the Saturday, you can find the coverage for the Saturday here (http://zeroclearance.net/adgp-2014-round-4-day-1/). We attended the Sunday hoping that the weather was on our side, and to our surprise, it was. We arrived with a completely dry track, very little wind and the sun in our faces, so it was a much welcomed change in scenery in comparison to the day before.
The day started with the briefings and track inspections, all while the teams were making sure their cars were up to scratch and ready to race for the last day of the 2014 season. Once the gates to the track had been opened, we saw the states top 16 warm up session closely followed by all the nationals. Straight after this we were straight into judged battles, starting with the Top 16 state contestants following with the top 32 from the national lineup. Following the national battles, we saw the top 8 from the state championship battle it out to bring it down to a small top 4.
After this, we saw the track cleaned up by all the staff and safety crew and the members of the public allowed to enter the pits to get up close to the cars and the drivers, for signage and photos. After this short lunch break we saw the National top 16 parade and battles, along with the top 4 and finals from the state drivers.
The remainder of the day saw the top 4 of National and the expression session after the Trophy presentation and the much loved burnout session.
Please don’t be shy to check out the coverage, and we’ll see everyone at Calder Park again for VicDrifts Practice day on the 17th of May!
Adam.
