ADGP 2014 – Round 4 – Day 1
Welcome to ZeroClearance!
We had the pleasure of attending ADGP round 4, which was conveniently located at Calder Park Raceway in Victoria. When we arrived at the track bright and early Saturday morning, we were greeted with a calm sunshine that filled the ThunderDome with warmth and light. I took this opportunity to walk around the pits and check out some of the competition. There was everything from 2J’s to built 4U-GSE’s (look it up :)), so it was amping up to be an amazing weekend already. ADGP is broken up into two tiers, State, and National, the state section being where all the local drifters of every state battle it out to gain an invite to the National section. National being where you’d fight it out for the title of Aussie champ and gain an FD Asia license.
Saturday was the main practice and qualifying, where all the drivers that attended were allowed to run the track and their cars all day, allowing for tweaks to get used to the new track layout and surface. It proved a difficult track to get used too for the drivers, but as we headed closer towards lunchtime we were seeing some better driving from all that were participating. The only downside of the entire day was the much hated rain that fell for an hour or two over Calder Park, which came with an amazing chilly breeze to top it off!
But everyone made do and kept the level of driving high, the qualifying results are as follows and I hope you enjoy the coverage!
Adam.
